Natures Own 0238 Vitamin B12 250mcg is also known as cyanocobalamin. The most significant food sources of this vitamin are animal protein such as liver or kidney, but the lactobacillus bacteria in our intestines can also synthesise small quantities of Vitamin B12. Antiobiotic use or oral contraceptives are known to disrupt the normal balance of intestinal flora and hence the synthesis of this vitamin. Frequent use of laxatives and antacids may also interrupt the utilisation of Vitamin B12. Some individuals lack a stomach enzyme which is required for proper absorption of this essential vitamin. It has been found however, that in lozenge form, Vitamin B12 can be readily assimilated by these individuals through the mucous linings of the mouth. Vitamin B12 is useful for the maintenance of normal healthy blood. It helps relieve tiredness. May be especially valuable to vegetarians who may be lacking this essential nutrient.
