MULTIPLE PACKS
Dispensing multiple packs or multiple repeats of prescription medication
- As pharmacists we must always comply explicitly with your doctors prescribed directions this includes the quantity of the prescription goods to be supplied. Therefore the only time we can supply an increased quantity of a prescribed medicine is if the doctor prescribes that quantity for you.
AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION
- Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.
Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health.
Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).
Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.
But still pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has the necessary Authority code.

About lanolin
Use Purelan™ at every feed to relieve soreness and protect your nipples. There is no need to remove Purelan™ before feeding.
Lanolin is a deeply hydrating, naturally occurring substance found in sheep's fleece. The lanolin in Purelan™ nipple cream is ethically sourced using wool from mulesing-free farms. It is highly purified and tested to the industry's highest standards (European and US Pharmacopoeia).

Great product

Although only a small amount, I have seen vast improvement and soothing relief and would most likely purchase this for myself once I have run out

Saved my nipples

Handy size and relieves pain
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The Medela purelan really helps to soothe sore nipples from breastfeeding and pumping. You only need to apply just a little which enables the tube to last much longer. It has a very faint scent and is formulated with 100% pure lanolin, without additives or preservatives, which makes it safe for breastfeeding bubs. I especially like the smaller 7g tube as I can stow it away in the stroller, nappy bag or on trips away.

Must have item for breastfeeding mum
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I tried this cream for the first time when I got a sample of it from an expo. However, I ended up buying it as it’s so good. This cream is a lifesafer whenever I had sore nipples or milk blisters. It’s almost like an instant reliever, and I can even see the result in no time. Another plus is we only need to apply a little bit of it due to the thick consistency. Totally recommend!
