MULTIPLE PACKS
Dispensing multiple packs or multiple repeats of prescription medication
- As pharmacists we must always comply explicitly with your doctors prescribed directions this includes the quantity of the prescription goods to be supplied. Therefore the only time we can supply an increased quantity of a prescribed medicine is if the doctor prescribes that quantity for you.
AUTHORITY PRESCRIPTION
- Some PBS medications are restricted and require prior approval from Medicare before a doctor is able to prescribe them on the PBS. This prior approval to prescribe grants the doctor the Authority to prescribe the desired medicine and have it funded under the PBS.
Authority to prescribe an Authority medicine is granted for specific indications and/or for certain patient circumstances. Authority may be obtained by telephone to Medicare Australia (known as "phone approval") or in writing from an authorised delegate of the Minister for Health.
Prescriptions must be written on an Authority Prescription Form, and the approval number must be noted on the prescription. Pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has been approved by Medicare Australia (indicated by the presence of the approval number).
Some drugs may have Authority Required (Streamlined) status which does not require an explicit approval from Medicare, instead the doctor can use the Authority code found in the published Schedule for a given drug/indication.
But still pharmacists cannot dispense the item as a pharmaceutical benefit unless it has the necessary Authority code.

Centrum For Men 50+ multivitamin and minerals are complete from A to Zinc and support vitality, mental performance, immunity and heart health.
Vitality: B group vitamins including Folic Acid to support daily vitality.
Mental Performance: With Pantothenic Acid (Vitamin B5), Iron and Zinc to support mental performance.
Immunity: With key antioxidants such as Vitamins A, C & E, Betacarotene, Selenium & Zinc to help support immune function.
Heart Health: With Vitamin B6 and Folic Acid to help maintain a healthy heart.

Warnings
This medicine contains selenium which is toxic in high doses. A daily dose of 150 micrograms for adults of selenium from dietary supplements should not be exceeded Vitamin and mineral supplements should not replace a balanced diet. Not for the treatment of iron deficiency conditions. Talk to your health professional before you use if you are breastfeeding. If taking other supplements, read the label since supplements may contain the same ingredients. Keep out of reach of children. In case of accidental overdose, discontinue use and immediately contact your doctor or Poisons Information Centre (Australia: 13 11 26, New Zealand: 0800 764 766).
Contains: Sulfites, colourings and tabletting aids.
The recommended daily amount of Vitamin A from all sources is 700 micrograms retinol equivalents for women and 900 micrograms retinol equivalents for men.
When taken in excess of 3000 micrograms retinol equivalents, Vitamin A can cause birth defects. If you are pregnant or considering. becoming ilregnant, do not take Vitamin A supplements without consulting your doctor or pharmacist.
